Thank you for beautiful photos of and information about Sanibel. Our family has gathered there for one precious week for a number of years, following college commencement in May. Last year our vacation coincided with the beach being virtually off limits because of the red algae. Can you/will you address the current situation? We have reservations to come again this May, but we are hesitant to risk another unfortunate experience. Two years in a row of not being able to enjoy the beach during the visit would be too disappointing. Anything you can share would be truly appreciated.
In the best spirit, thank you!

Hi Beachcomber!
Probably the good thing about the severe drought in Southwest Florida is that the Red Drift Algae has been pretty much non-existent on the beaches for aprox. 6-7 months. Please remember that the Algae is supposed to be there, just not in the huge quantities seen. Hope everything holds for your trip!
